Monthly Call For Submissions

Transformational Moments

Garden of Neuro Publishing is hosting a Digital Call for Submissions. Essays and poetry about Transformational Moments will be accepted for submission in two ways

Here are the instructions for writers who are members of Medium and writing for the Garden of Neuro publication. If you’re not writing with us on Medium and would like to, leave a message in the comments on the Medium post and we'll add you to the publication.

We’ll include these submissions, either in full or by providing a link, in future issues the Garden Variety Newsletter.

The Talk

The Talk, Conversations between Mothers and Sons of Color continues.

The first call for submission was called The Talk, Conversations between Black Mothers and Sons which stemmed from a book launch with sisters Chyrel Jackson and Lyris Wallace discussing ‘poetic contemporary modern verse’ in their book Mirrored Images. (Instagram @2Sistersrocnrhyme)

This Call has been expanded to include Mothers of Color as we grow to understand these conversations in hopes of evolving to a time when no mother has to have these kinds of talks with her children.

Submissions will be accepted beginning February 1, through April 30, 2022.

Please submit work here using this form.

What We Seek:

Bio, Essays & Poetry

A third person, a short bio is required. Please keep this to 50 words or less. If it is longer, we have the discretion to shorten your bio.

Your full name, address, phone number, and preferred email address are required if submitted via our form or when sending an email. Please include this information in the email. (This is for the editor’s use only so you may be contacted, and contracts can be properly drawn.)

Send submission as a WORD (.Doc or .docx) attachment.

Poetry: Left Alignment Only and up to 100 lines, although we are flexible for words that matter.

Essays: In the range of 5,000 words. We prefer to allow the author some extra room if necessary for the piece.

The Women Who Influenced Us

What woman has had the greatest influence on your life? This can be any woman, family, a close or distant relative, a friend, an adult when you were a child, a mentor in school or work. A neighbor, a coworker, or even a stranger on a bus - the impact they left on you could have taken time to develop or it could have been a moment that made you think differently, putting you on a different path.
